1967 CHRONICLE – FALL FESTIVAL TO BE OR NOT TO BE

For the past several years our Parish had a Fall Festival. Everyone was asked to sell $50 worth of tickets – a difficult job.

It is suggested that this year everyone try to give $25 or more to the Parish, instead of selling tickets. Many people say that this will save them money because in past years not only did they try to sell $50 worth of tickets, but also they gave their children money to spend at the Festival, and also spent a lot of money themselves.

After considering these suggestions, the Church Committee made the following recommendations:

1. that, instead of selling tickets each parishioner be asked to give $25 or more directly to the Parish.
2. that a goal of $20,000 be established (the Festival brings in approximately this amount).
3. that if this goal is reached by June 15th, the Fall Festival will not be held this year.
4. that if the goal is not reached by June 15, then plans for a Fall Festival be made and the Festival be held in the usual manner.
5. that those who contribute be given credit in the Chronicle.

Special envelopes will be distributed each Sunday for four Sundays. Beginning on May 21st, a second collection will be taken up at all Masses for the next four Sundays.

If you are able to give 425 or more today, please put it in this envelope with your name and address and put it in the second collection.

If you cannot give this much at one time, please put part of it in this enveloped each Sunday for the next four Sundays.

Additional revenue is sorely needed at this time. If this method of raising it is succesful, we will not have a Fall Festival this year. If is not successful by June 15th, plans for the Fall Festival will be made.

In any event, those who contribute now will be given proper credit if we do find it necessary to have a Festival.

NOTE: If you cannot give now, but with to make a pledge of $25 or more which you can pay by September, please indicate this on the envelope and put the envelope in the Collection basket.
