1975 CLASS OF ’75 MEMORIES OF THE ANY GIVEN DAY ACTIVITIES

On any given day the students would start by saying a Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.

On any given day you’d see students scatter if they saw Msgr. Weier headed their way.

On any given winter day a snowball fight might break out during recess.

On any given day you might get a noogie from Kerry P (and they hurt).

On any given day you might see Bic pens with the ink center removed so that the students could use the hollow shell to shoot spit wads through the air.

Hot Lunch Tuesday

On any given day you might see the students smelling the purple ink on freshly mimeographed papers.

On any given Tuesday you may find $0.40 in the pockets of kids getting their hotdog, chips, and milk (hot lunch Tuesdays).

On any given day you might see the students playing with Duncan Yo Yo’s, Mood Rings, and Pet Rocks.

On any given day you might see the students in line at the milk machine to get a nickel chocolate milk.

On any given day you might see an empty chocolate milk carton in the crotch of a tree on your walk home.

On any given day you might see the St. Albert girls wearing those scratchy wool uniforms.

On any given day you might hear Big G, little O, go go (Miss Gnewick and Mr. O).

On any given day you can find a girl swinging upside down from one knee on the monkey bars.

On any given day you might receive a paper note delivered from student to student through the “note express” across the classroom.

On any given day you might receive a piece of paper trash delivered from student to student through the “garbage express” until it reached the trash can.

On any given day you folded the notes into triangle footballs before passing them on.

On any given day you would find kids playing on the swinging gate at recess (and in some cases getting flung off it).

On any given day you would use your pencil eraser to write the letters of the alphabet on the back of your classmate…just to pass the time.

On any given day you would find students at recess playing box hockey behind the gym.

On any given day the nuns would whack someone in the back of the head for slamming the kneeler down in Church.

On any given day you might get rapped on the knuckles with a ruler for being disruptive in class.

On any given day you might find the students reading about the adventures of the “Happy Hollister’s” in the St. Albert library.

On any given day you might hear the nuns strumming on the guitar and singing the song “Michael Row The Boat Ashore”, which was one of their favorites.

On any given day the students would be raising money for the missions in various ways, including certificates of adoption.
