The last boys CYO basketball game was played last Sunday to a packed gym of loyal Cardinal fans. Second place was at stake for the Cardinals and their cross town rivals Sacred Heart. The game was really a barn burner to the very last second of play.
Sacred Heart took an early lead and held on until the end of the first half leading by four points. The second half was Cardinals all the way with some great buckets made by Randy Huettman leading the scoring with 27 points, followed by Gary Zarb with 10, Bob Koos 3, Dave Krzywonos 2, and Dave Welker scoring the last basket. Final Score St. Albert 44, Sacred Heart 39. This weekend starts the playoffs for the Cardinals. Good luck and congratulations on second place and a successful season.
