It was no secret that long time St. Albert baseball coach Ray Nikolai was a huge model railroad fan and collector. If you drove by his house you would see a life size train crossing gate so it really surprised no one that in March 1984 he put on the St. Albert Model Railroad show which not only filled up the entire gymnasium but also the classrooms and hallways at the St. Albert’s Senior Building. The event was a big success and became one of the best model train shows in the state as it continued every year (some years more than once) at the school for decades.
