The Detroit Lions came to play a charity basketball game against St. Albert personnel including Lou Marchetti, Kurt Schreiber, Dick Fron, Dennis Morrik, dads and coaches from St. Alberts.
That year the Lions started the season 4-0 in 1980 and one of the members of the team, Jimmy “Spider-man” Allen, did a Detroit Lion version of “another one bites the dust” which became the theme song during this time. Parishioners still have autographs from this game which included Dexter Bussey, Eric Hipple, and James Hunter. James Hunter and Dexter bussey worked the off season at GM with Mr. Nikolai and that is how this game was arranged.
